Painted Wall Spector Kit

Painted Wall Spector Kit

This kit contains four skeins of my favorite BFL fingering in coordinating colors inspired by the Painted Wall cliff face in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. It is intended for use in the Spector sweater by Joji Locatelli, and it contains enough yardage to make size XS to L. Please contact me if you would like to make a larger size so that we can discuss which colorways you would like to increase as this will affect the overall look of your sweater.

I had the privilege of test knitting this sweater for Joji, and it is truly one of my favorite hand knit garments that I have ever made.

The first colorway in this collection is Serenade, a warm beigey-grey. The second skein is Antler, a pale beige base with black and grey speckles. The third skein is Wabi Sabi, a rich grey tonal with lots of built-in highlights and shadows, and the fourth is a Steadfast, a nearly-black charcoal grey.

My BFL Fingering base is a wonderfully soft and wooly base of 100% Superwash British Bluefaced Leicester wool. It takes dye like a dream, so the colors are deeply saturated. It’s long staple length makes a  durable, low-pilling yarn with excellent stitch definition. .

Each skein of yarn has been hand painted with love and care in a smoke-free environment. I use professional quality acid dyes in a small batch dying process. No two skeins are exactly the same. All skeins are hand washed and rinsed thoroughly before you receive them, however, some bleeding may occur, especially in the first few washes.

I do my best to represent colors accurately in photographs, however, colors may vary from monitor to monitor. Photos are taken in natural lighting with minimal photo editing.

Care: Although this is machine washable, I recommend hand washing with wool wash or a gentle soap to preserve colors and durability. Lay flat to dry.
